1. Dust Resistance Test (First Digit 6) Test Environment: The device should be placed in a dust chamber where fine dust particles are circulated.
Testing Procedure: Seal the device to ensure there are no openings.
Expose it to the dust environment for a specified duration (typically 8 hours).
Monitor for any ingress of dust. The device should remain dust-tight, meaning no dust can enter the enclosure.
2. Water Resistance Test (Second Digit 5) Test Environment: Use a water spray test setup that can create jets of water.
Testing Procedure: Position the device at an angle, typically at around 60 degrees from the vertical.
Spray it with water jets at a pressure of 12.5 liters per minute from a distance of 2.5 to 3 meters. The jets should be directed from different angles to thoroughly test the enclosure.
The water spray test should last for about 15 minutes.
Assessment: After the test, check the device for any signs of water ingress. There should be no water penetration inside the enclosure.
3. Post-Test Inspection After completing both tests, inspect the device’s functionality and integrity: Look for any visible dust accumulation or moisture inside the enclosure.
